SUMMARY:Ladies Night - comedy tour
DESCRIPTION:New Zealand’s sexiest and most successful comedy of all time is about to get its gear off again\, in a nationwide tour this September and October! \nThis hilarious new production of Ladies Night promises to be this year’s funniest night out as these real Kiwi blokes dare each other to put on a male strip show\, after falling down on their luck and needing some extra cash. \nA spur of the moment idea rapidly becomes a reality as the venue is booked and the seats sold. With the terrifying prospect of actually having to strip in front of the public only moments away\, Craig\, Barry\, Norm\, Wes and Gavin set about transforming themselves from beer belly to Six Pack. \nFollow them on their journey as they get to grips with the finer points of seduction\, stripping and the perfect wax job. Think Magic Mike with a double shot of Kiwi humour. \nLadies Night will feature New Zealand’s hottest actor\, Mike Edward (Shortland Street\, Power Rangers\, The Brokenwood Mysteries\, Spartacus) as head stripper Barry and Mark Wright (Shortland Street\, Power Rangers) as Bernie the sleazy nightclub owner. \nWritten in 1987 by Anthony McCarten and Stephen Sinclair\, Ladies Night was a global theatrical hit. The precursor to stage hits like Magic Mike starring hunky Channing Tatum\, Ladies Night has been translated into 16 languages and remains New Zealand’s most commercially successful play of all time. \nAfter eight sell-out tours of Britain\, it went on to win The Molière Prize\, France’s premiere theatre award for comedy\, in 2001.

Pre-sales begin today and all remaining seats will be available to the public this Wednesday. \nProduced by the Amici Trust and G&T Productions – a collab responsible for recent musical hits including Mary Poppins\, Jersey Boys and Kinky Boots – this four-day music extravaganza is a premiere event delivered in association with Auckland Live. \nThe Music Man was an instant smash hit when it premiered on Broadway in in 1957\, running for 1\,375 performances and winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. The cast album won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album and ranked on the Billboard charts for 245 weeks. \nIts 2022 Broadway revival starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster achieved extraordinary success\, playing 374 regular and 46 preview performances by the time it took its final bow. \nAs the best-known work by Meredith Willson\, The Music Man follows the tale of brazen swindler Professor Harold Hill who arrives in River City\, Iowa\, promising uniforms\, instruments and lessons for a new town band. \nThe locals are thrilled but in reality\, Hill plans to leave River City as soon as he closes the sale. But those plans change when Hill meets Marian Paroo\, or “Marian the Librarian\,” and finds himself falling for her. Soon Hill must follow through on his big promises or else lose out on his chance at love.
